Let’s party! While throwing a party can be a lot of fun, it can also be a lot of work getting everything organized. That’s why it’s so important to use a few of the free party planning apps for the iPad and iPhone to ensure that you’ve got all your ducks in a row (or all the shot glasses, as the case may be).
All of the iDevice apps listed below are completely free, so you can save your budget for all those funny party hats and party favors for your guests. These apps can be useful for nearly any occasion, so whether you’re planning a birthday party, a Christmas party, or just a casual dinner party with some friends, it pays to stay organized and on top of things.
First things first: you have to let people know that you’re throwing a party in the first place! The Evite app for iPad and iPhone ties in with the regular Evite website that you’ve likely used before. This manages all the invitations for the events that you are hosting, as well as any other events where you may be the one getting invited. At a glance, you can know who has and has not yet RSVP’d to your party, for example, as well as check in on comments and suggestions that your guest may have. Afterwards, it’s easy enough for your guests to post photos for all the attendees to see, too.
Mixology Drink & Cocktail Recipes
Now, I’m not saying that a party isn’t complete without some alcohol, but there are certainly going to be a lot of parties that involve a drink or two. This is especially true of New Year’s Eve parties, for example, where people may choose to imbibe. This free drink recipe app gives you a full suite of recipes, including martinis, cocktails, hot drinks, and even 28 recipes for Jello shots! There’s an additional category dedicated to low calorie drinks if you have guests who wanto to have some fun without breaking their diets.
Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner
It’s not all about the drinks either. This is particularly true if you’re hosting a dinner party of some kind, but it could just as easily apply to a more casual gathering where you’ll probably want to have a few things for your guests to nibble on. Having a bowl of chips and pretzels isn’t exactly classy. The Allrecipes.com app lets you sort through a variety of recipes based on dish type, ingredients, and preparation time. After you’ve selected the dishes you want to make, the iDevice app even compiles together a shopping list of ingredients for you.
There’s nothing worse than an awkward silence. As much as you may encourage mingling and chit-chat, it certainly helps when your party keeps the music pumping too. Pandora Radio is one of the best free iPhone music apps available, because it gives you a personalized radio station populated with all the artists and genres that you like. This can vastly expand upon your existing iTunes library.
Where’s the Party At?
As helpful as these party planning apps may help you organize your own parties, sometimes you just want to go out for a good time with your friends. Instead of randomly meandering through the bar and club scene to find a happening spot, the “WTPA” app lets you know exactly where you can find the best “public” parties in your area. This includes nightclubs, bars, dance parties, raves, live music, and more. You can also use this for after-parties and private parties where you just invite your friends.
